At the invitation of Col. Michael Gould, commanding officer of the Fort Hamilton Army Base, members of Community Board 10 and local residents toured the historic military installation on March 24.
The group, led by Board Chairman Joanne Seminara and District Manager Josephine Beckmann, toured the base and learned about its history and architecture.
Located on the Bay Ridge waterfront, Fort Hamilton, named after Alexander Hamilton, opened in 1825.
The Board 10 members and their guests were also taken on a guided tour of the Harbor Defense Museum, located on the grounds of the fort. They saw artifacts dating back to the Revolutionary War. read more
