Strolling along … Who pays these weathermen, anyway? After constant thunderstorm warnings spooked organizers into canceling the third installment of “Summer Stroll on 3rd” last week, we were befuddled when 6 p.m. rolled around and the rain had all but stopped for the night. What a shame!
Still, it is better to be safe than sorry. read more »

Causing ‘Trouble’ for a Good Cause!

Members of the Jeff Samaha Theater Productions/Ridge Chorale, in conjunction with the Helping Hands Project, are going to be causing trouble, but it’s for a good cause. The talented performers will reprise their roles from their popular show Trouble at the Tropicabana to raise money for victims of the devastating fire on 81st Street.
Showtimes are Saturday, Aug. 11 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 12 at 6 p.m. at St. Mary’s Antiochian Church Hall, 81st Street and Ridge Boulevard. read more »

‘Sideshow’ takes center stage … “You could almost smell the sea and sand,” Justin Brannan said, describing the feel of Coney Island his Bay Ridge art gallery took on over the weekend.
The Art Room, the gallery-school at 8710 Third Ave. Brannan co-owns with his mother Mary Brannan and his fiancée Leigh Holliday, was the setting for a unique opening of an exhibition of the works by artist Marie Roberts, who specializes in Coney Island scenes. read more »

Great ‘chemistry’ leads to wedding …Pamela Tadross, daughter of Karen and Tony Tadross,
was married on Saturday, July 21, to Christopher Gilmore, son of Jane and Dennis Gilmore of Pasadena, Calif. The wedding ceremony took place at St. Mary’s Antiochian Orthodox Church and the service was officiated by Fr. Michael Ellias. read more »

Coney Island Artist Brings Work to Bay Ridge

Bay Ridge — Coney Island is coming to Bay Ridge! Not the sand or surf, but the artistry.
Marie Roberts, an artist born and raised in Coney Island, is mounting an exhibition of her work at The Art Room, 8710 Third Ave., starting Saturday, Aug. 4.
The Art Room owners Leigh Holliday and Justin Brannan will welcome Roberts by hosting a reception marking the opening of the exhibit from 6 to 9 p.m.
Roberts is known for the banners she creates for Coney Island’s famous sideshow. The Art Room exhibit will also include a selection of watercolors that Roberts has never shown to the public before. read more »

ABBA Tribute Concert Highlights 68th Pct. ‘Night Out’

Bay Ridge – The 68th Precinct Community Council is using music to bring neighborhood residents and police together in the hope of forging a partnership to fight crime.
A concert by The ABBA Girlz, an ABBA tribute band, is expected to be the main draw to “National Night Out,” an anti-crime event co-hosted by the community council and the 68th Precinct, on Tuesday, Aug. 7, in Shore Road Park at 79th Street, from 6 to 9 p.m. read more »

Bay Ridge — Rain didn’t dampen the enthusiasm for the first night of “Summer Stroll on 3rd,” the eagerly anticipated event designed to open Third Avenue up to pedestrians and shoppers.
Thousands of people turned out to enjoy a carefree stroll on the vehicle-free avenue on the night of July 20.
The next event is scheduled to take place tomorrow, July 27. read more »

Thousands of Fans Cheer TNA Wrestling Stars

Thousands of fans flooded MCU Park in Coney Island Saturday night to cheer for their favorite TNA Wrestling Superstars, as the company’s third annual “Basebrawl” tour touched down in Brooklyn. Prior to the event, fans who had purchased a VIP ticket package got the unique opportunity to meet several “Impact Wrestling” stars, including Kazarian, Robbie E., Mr. Anderson, Gail Kim, Christy Hemme and Brooklyn’s own Rosita. read more »

TNA Icon Sting To ‘Brawl’ at MCU Park

“Play brawl!”
The stars of Total Nonstop Action’s “Impact Wrestling” program are coming to MCU Park  on Saturday, July 21, and they’re looking for a fight.
Luckily, TNA officials have assured the Bay Ridge Eagle that the pro wrestling superstars will not leave Brooklyn disappointed, and neither will the thousands of fans expected to attend the company’s third annual live event at the ballpark.
Several matches have already been booked for the show, which provides fans of the sport the unique opportunity of seeing their favorite wrestlers up close and personal. read more »
