PARKVILLE 6 KNIGHTS 3
The 11-12-Year-Old Knights team, just back from Cal Ripken tournaments throughout the city, played their first summer game this past Sunday against the team from Parkville.
Parkville jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the first inning, but the Knights came back in the top of the second when Joseph Buttaro walked and Ralph Fasano hit a shot to right field that scored a run.
Buttaro pitched a gem of a game overall, but the Knights’ bats were silent for the first three innings. In the fourth inning, the Knights scored two more runs when Buttaro and Fasano walked, then Frank DiAngelis laid down a magnificent bunt to score Buttaro. Matt McCarthy came up and hit a hard ground ball to short that scored Fasano for the second run of the inning.
In the fourth inning, Parkville scored two more runs to open up its lead to 6-3. In the sixth and final inning, the Knights tried to start a rally as John Castiglione and Nikolas Angilletta walked, but the team just could not come up with a big hit when needed.
