Peter Tracy was born and raised in Bay Ridge. He attended St. Ephrem School and Bishop Ford High School. He will be celebrating his 40th wedding anniversary with his wife Kathy later this year. He is the proud father of Shannon, Daniel and son-in-law Dino. Tracy is also a loving grandfather to Jim, Katie and Tom. The grandchildren survive their dad Jeremy, who passed away two years ago from Hodgkins Lymphoma.The Tracys spend much of their time caring for their wonderful grandchildren. Peter is an assistant scoutmaster with Pack 518 and Troop 9318.
After 25 years with the FDNY, Tracy retired after 9/11. Five of his years of service were with Bay Ridge’s own Engine 241 and Ladder 109. In his 25-year FDNY career, he was cited for meritorious duty on six occasions. He was a member of the FDNY’s Holy Name and Emerald societies. He also helps his old firehouse units with many charity events.Tracy said he owes his interest in his Irish heritage to his friend the late Gene Reilly, one of the original supporters of the Bay Ridge St Patrick’s Parade.
